Luther graduated from the University of Texas in 1988. He earned his law degree in 1992 from The University of Houston where he met his wife, Kristi. Since then, he has worked in a variety of legal contexts, including working for a small firm, running his own practice and as an appellate lawyer with Harris County District Attorney’s Offices.
In 2001, Luther joined Makris Law Firm, bringing his broad variety of legal experience with him.

Hundreds of appellate cases, including Social Security, tax, bankruptcy and criminal appeals.
Lead briefing attorney in a case challenging the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals’ interpretation of the Texas parole revocation law. Over a two-year appellate course, the Court of Criminal Appeals reversed its prior holding, substantially adopting the reasoning of the challenge.
Subsequently, the Texas Legislature changed the law to incorporate the revised interpretation.
Successful prosecution of divorce, probate and bankruptcy cases.

Personal
He has worked since he was in the single digits, industriously shoveling tons of snow from sidewalks on the many frigid Air Force bases where he grew up. He was a paperboy from the age of 10 until going off to college. At UT, he worked nights for several years, in order to avoid conflicts with weekday class schedules and Saturday football. He enjoys his family, history, politics, science and acceleration (roller coasters, motorcycles, airplanes, etc).
